- coordinate a wide variety of support groups for families and children, e.g. Family Support Groups, Autism Support Group, Sibshops, etc. Topics are based on parent priority and interest.
- facilitate a variety of workshops for teens and young adults, such as healthy sexuality, social skill development, school-to-work tranisition planning, etc.
- coordinate a variety of workshops and training opportunities for parents, childcare workers, and other community members. Watch the local paper for details.
- provides assistance to families in accessing government programs that provide financial assistance for people with intellectual and other disabilities
- Community Living Prince Edward administers contracts for families that utilize Ministry dollars, allowing families to purchase personal and individual support services (i.e. Special Services at Home, Handicapped Children's Benefits).
- supports and assists families in finding people to work for them (i.e. through a screening process by Community Living Prince Edward). Note however that all potential workers hired by the families are employees of the family, not Community Living.
- provides a starting point for the individual/family to meet Community Living Prince Edward.
- provides assistance to the individual/family in developing personal, meaningful goals and the strategies to pursue these goals.
- techniques used are based on values and beliefs of Person Centred Planning.
- provides planning (HCB, SSAH) and support services to adults and children with developmental disabilities and who reside at home with their families.
- supports individuals with advocacy issues, personal needs, family contacts and community outreach.
- Out of Home Respite, providing respite for children up to 18 years of age.
