Dear Friends and Supporters,

Community Living Prince Edward is proud to be celebrating 60 years of Inspiring Possibilities. Our journey began in 1965 when a group of dedicated parents united with a shared vision: to create an inclusive community where their sons and daughters could thrive. Their decision to come together not only transformed the lives of people with intellectual disabilities but also made a lasting impact on our entire community, fostering a deep commitment to inclusion, citizenship, and full participation in community life.

As we reflect on these 60 years, we recognize that the heart of our work has always been about ensuring the best possible quality of life for the people we serve, as well as for their families. This is a journey that was set in motion by the founding members, who believed in a life filled with opportunity and possibility for their loved ones—one where they could belong, contribute, and be valued. Today, we continue to honor that vision, with a renewed focus on building communities where everyone belongs.

Our name, Community Living, reflects the ongoing belief that everyone—regardless of ability—deserves the right to live fully integrated lives, to enjoy dignity and respect, and to access opportunities for education, employment, and meaningful connections. The dedication of our families, employees, and volunteers has been key to making this vision a reality. Through their collective efforts, we’ve seen people engaged in all aspects of their communities, enriching us with their diverse talents and skills. In turn, our community has embraced the importance of inclusion, with businesses and partners standing as advocates of the community living movement.

As we look ahead, I am deeply inspired and encouraged by the work of the County Advocates and the Family Engagement Network, who will help guide us back to our roots. Their leadership ensures that our services remain responsive to the needs, wishes, and goals of the people and families we serve. Together, we are committed to redeveloping and modernizing our services to reflect the evolving needs of the community, and to ensuring that every voice is heard and valued.

The contributions of our Board of Directors, both past and present, cannot be overstated. Their wisdom, leadership, and guidance have been pivotal in helping us stay true to our mission. Their ongoing support continues to shape our future, ensuring that we stay on course as we work toward a more inclusive tomorrow.

Finally, I want to express my heartfelt thanks to every employee who has worked tirelessly to help people achieve a good life. Your creativity, innovation, and unwavering dedication have driven the success of our organization. The positive changes we’ve seen are a direct result of your hard work and passion for making a difference. Together, we are building a future where everyone belongs, and where people are empowered to live their best lives.
